Broken Second Story Feed Lines Can Cause Water Damage to Your Entire Pleasant Grove Residence
Many homes in Pleasant Grove have two stories, with the bedrooms upstairs, adding to the privacy and security families enjoy. Homes with a second full bathroom near the bedrooms have significantly increased value and a more convenient floor plan.
All of this added convenience and value in your home seems insignificant when a broken water line ruptures upstairs. Pleasant Grove structures can suffer water damage to both levels. The water never stays confined to just the floors, though, as it spreads out across above the ceiling of your ground floor.
Our technicians arrive at your home ready to locate lost water, get it extracted, dry out your home's interior, and address any issues regarding structural damage. We use different devices and types of equipment to carry out these tasks.
To find undetected water wherever it traveled between your second story and the ground floor, we use highly sensitive infrared imaging devices that show us in real time a depiction of the temperature differences. Cooler areas typically contain extra moisture. When we can show a path from above, the water in the trail most likely comes from the water line that broke upstairs. We can then target specific cavities or building elements to focus on for extracting the remaining moisture.
We use extraction wands that suction water off of surfaces and then somewhat into the pile of carpets and rugs. We launder, and dry rugs affected like this, and float carpeting, so re-installing happens very quickly after we reach dry conditions. To dry out interior spaces between walls and ceilings, we use air movers and flexible tubing. Forcing air into, through, and outside moves moisture out of the air, steadily pulling it out of porous structural materials. This works for dead spaces under and behind cabinetry, also. Making sure items are dry again helps combat microbial infestation by preventing it.
When warping occurs because of prolonged contact with water, we can advise you on how similar materials fare under the same conditions in other settings. Real wood often regains its original state, although pieced floors often fail. Ceilings that warp and sag need immediate attention. We drill a series of weep holes that allow water to drain slowly. Allowing this to happen rapidly can cause permanent sagging or a collapsed ceiling. This action also eliminates a safety hazard.
